Thank you to everyone who donated cans at our summer celebration. We dropped them off on Monday and the people were very happy to see all the cans. The cans that everybody donated will go to people, especially seniors, with not enough money to buy food.
At the food pantry they have a warehouse where they store all the food given to them. All the food they have there has been donated to them from companies like Target, Albertsons, and Vons as well as people like us. They have days when people can come and pick up food but for that you need to get approval from the volunteers there. In June they gave away 622 carts and 804 boxes of food to 1485 people. We helped them with 2 things. The first thing we helped them with was marking bar codes with a sharpie. The second thing we did was we unloaded a fridge for them. This was a very good experience for me because we saw the people who came to pick up food that we donated

For today (only, I believe) they are raising awareness for mental health issues. Late notice, I know. :-/ My kiddos are young so I wasn't sure if they would get anything from participating. Surprising they really seemed to. The program asks some questions about mental health and asks you to discuss it as a group with others. It's just our family here so we really got the conversation rolling. I believe my kids expanded their view of the world tonight. For about an hour they thought about others, how to help them, how to take action and raise awareness...at no point during that time was the world revolving around them. hahaha - It was a breathe of fresh air! If you're interested in participating text START to 89800...move quick, time is running out! #texttalkact #ttaca4h #murrietamustangs Tomorrow - November 11th, 2015It's that time again. Time for the Murrieta Mustangs to show their support for our Veterans. Wear you Mustang shirt or a plain white or green t-shirt.
